Global Warming An Inconvenient Truth - 1258 Words

In 2006, former senator Al Gore created an academy award winning documentary on global warming entitled â€Å"An Inconvenient Truth† . The movie earned several awards including an academy award for best documentary and gore later received a noble peace prize. The movie discussed several different topics of great concern to global warming; such as permafrost, climbs in temperature, extinction of species, drought, and fatigue to name a few. Four writers in five different articles discussed the three topics of greenhouse gases, climate change, and causes of global warming. These writers are writer and scholar Bill McKibben in â€Å"Think Again: Climate Change† and â€Å"How Close to catastrophe†; William J. Broad, writer for the New York Times in â€Å"From a Rapt audience, a call to cool the hype†; writer for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Kevin O’Brien, in â€Å"Global Warming? What is rarely thought of is plastic, food, or even water. Many people are unaware of harmful chemicals that are in everyday items. It is important to be aware of what enters the body because the side-effects can be harmful and in some cases deadly. Certain chemicals are not only harmful to the current generation, but also to future ones. Avoidance is only possible with knowledge of the dangers chemicals found in common goods present. Every single day people use, ingest or come in contact with chemicals that they are not even aware of. Many everyday items have harmful chemicals in them that people did not even think was possible. A large number of everyday items such as canned goods, plastic, water, cooking ware, clothing, and even receipts can contain harmful substances.
